Susan Carmona
Principal
Susan Carmona is the current principal at Witchcraft Heights Elementary School. She holds a Bachelors and Masters in Education from UMASS. Sue’s career started in Lowell Public Schools as a Spanish bilingual teacher and her work through the years has been with multicultural families and communities across Lowell, Lawrence and now Salem. While Sue’s background is strongly embedded in ELL and working with diverse populations, she has developed strong skills in managing the unique challenges of working with Students with Disabilities both in the mainstream and intensive settings. She knows that every child and every family has something to offer. As a leader, she drives every teacher to plan and teach at high levels so that all students feel accepted and safe, are willing to take academic risks, and have fun with their learning.
She values the importance of shared leadership and building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families. She is down to earth, transparent, and loves to laugh. Sue resides in Newbury with her family. When she is not working she loves to dig in her garden, walk her dogs, and watch her chickens chase each other through the backyard.
