Witchcraft Heights Elementary School-Where the Magic Happens!

1 Frederick Street.Salem.MA.01970

Dear Witchcraft Heights Elementary School Family,

I am  honored and excited to join the WHES Family as your new principal. Being part of this community over the past three years has shown me what a truly “magical” place this is. The joy and love for all students is due to every single person who crosses our threshold each day-from parents to teachers, custodians, and students.  I am personally challenged, inspired, and motivated to build our school community by growing every child, every day,  based on their unique learning profiles.

As we are now shifting to a new normal, it is appropriate to take an assessment of where WHES has been, where we are now, and what we see as our priorities for the future. As we begin this new school year together, I have created an entry plan that will work to address the needs of our school. This plan is intended to be a living document, and will guide my work on a daily basis. The most meaningful change occurs when we  work together. For this reason, this plan incorporates  conversations, which I hope will be open and honest, that will focus on our school community’s strengths and opportunities for growth.

Working together, I know that we will be able to build on our strengths so that we can provide an amazing educational experience for our students. It is a privilege to serve you and our children.

Sincerely,

Sue Carmona

Atentamente,

Sue Carmona

Witchcraft Heights Elementary School 2021-2022 Principal Goals

These goals are the guide to ensure that all students and staff at WHES continue to work on each individual’s path to excellence. Each goal will be approached through the lens of equity and anti-racism.

Create a Culture of Excellence

I will build a foundation for academic and social emotional improvement for all students that is rigorous.

I will establish high expectations and student outcomes that are clearly defined, communicated, and modeled by all staff.

I will model our core values and expectations.

I will expect the best each and every day from myself and those I work with by

implementing systems and structures that hold us accountable to our mission

   and vision.

Create a Culture of Engagement and Community

I will begin the process of building authentic , child-centered, positive relationships with all stakeholders of our WHES community.

I will establish a system of communication that is specific and focused. The lines of communication will be deliberate and intentionally focused on staff and families.

I will engage in honest, crucial conversations that focus on collaboration and engagement.

Create a Culture of Equity and Growth

Student growth and success will always be our number one priority.

I will set a mindset to continue improving our own practice and knowledge.

I will challenge myself and each other to confront inequalities and to build our collective knowledge and understanding of racial injustice in our work.
