About Ms. Collins
92212_123143_0.jpgA Lifelong Learner
My learning expedition began in Salem, MA at Federal Street Elementary School.  During these years, I learned and participated in an innovative and bi-lingual learning environment.  My teachers were passionately invested in enriching their students in language, culture, diversity, and equality in education.  Next, I attended the first local charter school- Marblehead Community Charter Public School.  Once again, I learned from teachers who believed in engaging all students in learning by ulitizing our individual strengths and learning styles.  I successfully graduated from high school and college by applying the skills and knowledge I developed as a young learner.  After obtaining my bachelor's degree in English, I decided to become a teacher.  I recognized the influence my teachers (and parents) had in my successful experiences as a student and wanted to provide this role in the development of future young learners.  To me, being a successful teacher involves continuing to learn, practice, and develop the skills and tools needed to reach and engage all students.  As a licensed teacher of students with moderate disabilities, my current focus involves creating a Universal Design for Learning.  There is a lot to learn and implement to successfully reach all learning styles and engaging their 21st century minds.
